Boycotting oil and gas by themselves is a difficult thing to do, as most people need cars in order to get to their jobs, but you can take smaller actions like using public transportation where available, carpooling, or biking. Small acts can make a big difference in the world.

Protesting is a great way for you to voice your frustrations and get attention while doing so. Peaceful protest is a must, violence will only turn outsiders against the cause of a protest and it will be used as ammunition for these companies. Protest new pipelines and installations that are being built. Educate people during these protests and don't disrupt people doing their jobs, as we don't want to make enemies with people who are contractually obligated to build these sites.

Calling your governmental representatives is a great way to get change, as they need you in order to remain in power. Let them know your concerns, and if nothing is done tell them you'll be voting for a different candidate who will take their concerns seriously.
